P7 Anderson Shelters Project!

The Primary 7s have been working for the last 6 weeks on a homework project… and the results are fantastic!

They were asked to build a model of an Anderson Shelter out of any materials they wanted! There are so many creative ideas with recycled materials, it goes to show what you can create if you look at an item in a new way.

We also got a chance to talk about our Anderson Shelters in class, then did a couple of rotations where we could look around at other people’s work and also present our own.

We are planning on showing off our work at our P7 Parent and Carer Learning Showcase on Wednesday, 6th December at 14:30 in the P7 classroom.

Well done P7!

P4 Trip to the National Portrait Gallery!

This week Primary 4 went to visit the National Portrait Gallery. Here is what a P4 said about it:

On Tuesday, 6th of June 2017, Primary 4 went on a lovely class trip to the National Portrait Gallery.

When we got there we went into the main area and met our tour guides. They were called Katherine and Moana. They told us to lie down on the ground! All of the children were bewildered but when we lay down we studied the stunning stars on the roof and the zodiac people painted on the balcony. Then we split into 2 groups. My group went upstairs and studied a painting. We got to learn more about it.

Then we got a clipboard and pencil each, and were told to draw a painting and our partners without taking our pencils off the paper or looking at the paper. This was really funny because when we looked at our piece of paper nothing was on the body. I’ve heard that the other group did something similar.

Next we went to have a little snack from our packed lunch boxes. Then we went to our workshop. We chose our partners and were told to go to a table and we created lots of different pictures using different materials.

Edinburgh School Uniform Bank

Have you heard of the Edinburgh School Uniform Bank? This organisation aims to help children in schools by providing school uniforms to families in need of financial support.

From their website:

“… we started a school uniform bank to help children and young people affected by poverty have the start they need for a good education. We aim to promote pride, dignity and self-esteem in children from families experiencing financial hardship in Edinburgh by providing good-quality school uniform and other clothing, equipment and supplies required for the school day.”

They are also looking for volunteers and donations.

P6 & P7 Parent Showcase!

Fun in the Sun!

What a lovely week of weather we’ve had! Primary 7 have enjoyed getting outside for a few activities, including PE, Drama and Ask & Play.

In Drama, we were creating obstacle courses… with our imaginations! Each group member invented a segment of the course and the group had to run the entire course through. No one could use any equipment! This allowed for some serious imagination work. Some groups were very creative and even included dance moves!

Check out our obstacle courses below!
